Hannah and I were in the store a few weeks ago, wandering aimlessly up one aisle and down the other. We happened into the shoe aisle. At first, she protested loudly to trying on shoes - didn't like the brown ones, hated the black ones, and so on. And then it happened. I was
privileged enough to be there for the event. The moment when Hannah fell in love with her first pair of shoes. I call them Dorothy shoes. Anyone with a daughter, who has been to Target will instantly know which ones these are. They are red, Mary Jane style shoes and they are SPARKLY! Hannah fell in love with them and given the look on her face, there was no way we were leaving that store without them. Truthfully, I loved them too- what woman doesn't love a sparkly red shoe. So, we got them. They are
treasured in our home. They sit in a place of honor in her closet. They are pulled out at least once a day and worn. Last night, in her nightgown, Hannah got them out, put them on (herself!!!!) and proceeded to dance all over the house. She is serious about those shoes. Of course they were matched perfectly to her Dora pj's (NOT!) but she did not care. All that mattered was that she was wearing her red sparkles (her term for them) and all was right with the world. (Okay, at this point in my story, I am thinking I will just go ahead and post the "too dark" picture - cause her smile is priceless)
See, priceless! That is the cheesiest, "I have red shoes and you don't" look I have ever seen! Needless to say, I have nothing profound to say on this matter, except that love of shoes starts early and takes hold really quickly!
So, here's to the future and all the shoes we will grow to love! We can't wait to shop again!
Happy Friday!
