Daydreams, Trains and a House Full of Monkees!

My daughter is obsessed. I mean she is really head over heels in love this time.

Around here the day does not start, nor does it end without her begging for at least some bit time with the new loves of her life. They are four boys who sing, dance, act silly and no...they are not the Wiggles. In fact, they pre-date the Wiggles by at least forty years.

Yes, you read that right - forty years.

In fact, these four boys were on my hot list as when I was member of the preschool set...way back - yep - forty years or so ago!!

Who are they?

Well, let me just put this tune in your head for the rest of the night...

Hey, Hey, We're the Monkees!
People say we monkey around.
But we're too busy singing
To put anybody down.....
Hey, Hey, We're the Monkees....

Okay - I will stop the torture. You will be singing that little ditty, if you were in a child in the sixties and seventies, for the rest of the night - cause you know it - you KNOW you know it.

Yes, it is true, my Hannah has fallen for those wild and crazy guys - Mickey, Davy, Peter and Mike - THE MONKEES!!!

Thanks to On Demand from our cable company - we are treated to episodes of old tv shows and on a whim one day I chose The Monkees in a Halloween episode. Those of you who know Hannah, know that there is nothing she enjoys better than a Halloween story - couple that with the silly foursome and she was smitten!

Since the new romance has blossomed, we have watched that particular episode at least forty or one hundred times and we have even been lucky(?) enough to find a Monkee's Greatest Hit cd in the rack at Best Buy.

As a rehabilitated Monkee fan from the sixties, I must say I am enjoying (at least for the first showing of an episode and that first play of the cd) the comeback they are experiencing thanks to this wacky four year old that lives with me.

It is now bedtime for the Monkee fanatic, so I am off to tuck her in, read a sweet bedtime story and then set the cd player to blast hits from the sixties and seventies far into the night. And thank goodness for the nursery monitor - I get to listen to the tunes as well. Whee hee!!

Hey, Hey, We're The Monkees... sorry - just wanted to make sure you sing it all night just like me! Or how 'bout this.... "take the last train to Clarksville, or " daydream believer and a homecoming queen!" Hee, hee, hee!!

Living Happily Ever After,
Beverly

Song of the day: Daydream Believer, The Monkees (that was an easy one!)

We went to an Irish pub in London and ended up rolling in the floor laughing the entire night. There were folks from all over the world - estaren Europeans, Spaniards, French - you name it. They played "Cheer up Sleepy Jean" and everyone started singing it - mostly by rote with TERRIBLE English(most could not speak English) They ALl knew it!!
