It's Fall Ya'll!!

Apples; sauce, cakes, or candied
Smells; pumpkin, spice, sweet
Chills; in the air, up my spine, on the window panes...

Fall is coming. It is my favorite time of the year. I love the colors that come to the landscape, the reds, yellows, oranges and browns. My wardrobe and my home are already made up of these autumnal colors – so to have the rest of the world join me in celebration of these colors is gratifying.

September is here and there are activities to look forward to in my town, one of which is this weekend. For many, many years our city has celebrated the arts with a weekend known as Arts in the Heart. There is my family’s annual pilgrimage to a neighboring small town known as the birthplace of Oliver Hardy, and the parade and activities marking his birthday. There are car shows that make my husband smile, and football games that make my friends giddy. Fall brings with it so many traditions. It is a family time for me. September is not only the month of my daughter’s birth, but our family usually makes a trek to the mountains every September, making memories of our own there in the North Georgia hills.

Of course all the scenes of Fall taking shape around me springs my mind forward to October which in my household, brings about even more excitement as we ready for Halloween. In the past we have held doggie costume parties and more recently kiddie costume parties. There is the annual hunt for a presentable costume and the fun night we spend trick or treating with sweet friends.

Weather permitting, this is the best month for smore making on the campfire out back and this year, maybe even a real camping trip (in the backyard of course!) And of course, October means the Fair is coming to town. My girl loves the fair, this year she wants to ride the roller coaster and the ferris wheel – heaven help my poor mommy heart!

November on the horizon means the coming of my favorite holiday. I love all the holidays, don’t get me wrong, but there is something about Thanksgiving that tugs at my heart. Look for a few posts about this favorite holiday as it draws nearer.

Of course the end of November means the start of December and the Christmas season, and quite frankly I don’t consider that Fall, so I will stop here at the list of all the fun Fall activities to come.

It is a great time of year. I am excited that yesterday I got to wear a long sleeve (although quite thin) shirt and for two days now we have ridden around town with the windows down in the car and felt the wind whipping. I love it, I love it, and I love it!!

Thank you God for Fall!!

Living Happily Ever After, Beverly
