Friday Fave Five

Today is Friday and I supposed to have a post on here about my five favorite things in this week. This week has been really hard for me... I am going to try and find five favorite things...but if I don't get all five, please don't hold it against me!!

1. KOHL'S. Monday night my daughter and I headed to Kohl's after my husband went to work. We had the best time going up and down the aisles, looking at the clothes and all the household goods. My daughter actually behaved in a public place, pushed the shopping cart and was helpful as I looked for certain items. It was a glimmer into what our future may hold. I always did hate to shop alone, always wished I had a sister to shop with and now, just maybe at some point in my future, I will have a new shopping buddy. It gave me hope.

2. CHRISTMAS MUSIC. This week has heralded the return of Christmas music to my home and car. I was with a friend on Tuesday and listened to a new Christmas album featuring local bands in our town. It sparked the Christmas Music button to flip in my brain and although it is a few weeks from Thanksgiving, I have already started playing Christmas as I work in my kitchen, and soon I will pull all the cd's out and put a rotation on the cd player. The weather is not helping, it is cold and rainy -- perfect Christmas music weather.

3. HOT CHOCOLATE. I am usually not a huge fan. I like coffee in the cold weather, or hot tea. This week I made a cup of hot chocolate early one morning. It was the perfect cup, sweet, chocolate, smooth and I became a convert. I have enjoyed a cup early each morning and it has made getting up and getting started on my day much easier this week.

4. RAIN. Okay, truthfully I am not a big fan. I know we need the rain, it is good for the planet and all, and most of all it makes a big mess. But it rained yesterday and although I was out in the pouring stuff, doing errands that had to be done, and although I was soaking wet and weary by the time I picked my daughter up from school, I loved the rain. It make my step faster, it felt refreshing to me. I have had a rough week, the rain made me feel like someone else was crying besides me. Since the sky was crying, I didn't have to...so actually the rain helped me have a much better day on Thursday than I did on Wednesday!

5. THANKSGIVING DECORATIONS. Yipee, I made it to five. I honestly didn't know if I could. Late yesterday afternoon my child and husband left on an errand and I had the place to myself. I used the time to start decorating the house for Thanksgiving. I grew up with a mom who had the house decorated for every season. I try and keep up, it is a little hard with a four year old, but I still try to put out the seasonal stuff for our family. Yesterday I got out my glass turkey, filled it with candy corn and placed it on my sideboard. I pulled out the cute pilgrim boy and girl candle topper and the autumn leaves that fill a bowl on the sideboard. The dining room table got a plateful of colorful autumn gourds and I brought out the Carmel apple and pumpkin scented candles. I have more in the attic, I will climb up there this afternoon and bring them all down. I am excited. My favorite holiday is on the horizon!

And what are you five favorite things from this week? Leave me a comment, I would love to hear from you!

Hi Beverly! What a great list of 5! I've been a closet Christmas music listener for about 6 week...one of radio stations started Oct 1st. I like hot chocolate for dessert. Hope you have a wonderful week!

I'm sorry you had a bad week. I hope the list helped you to find some bright spots. #4 was very touching and an awesome perspective on the rain. Now I have to go get my Christmas music out as you've inspired me to get it playing. :v)

I had a hard week too - but I know it will get better. You had a great list in spite of it.

I've been listening to Christmas music since before Halloween! I loved all your faves this week.

Okay, now I can admit it. I had Christmas music on this week, too, as I was painting. I've never started with it this early, but I'm sooo looking forward to the holidays this year.

Cute turkey decoration. Did you make it?

I love Kohl's! We have one less than 5 minutes from our house (along with a Target and a bunch of other stores) and it is so handy. Probably too handy!

I need to look for some more Thanksgiving decorations. I love you idea of the glass turkey filled with candy corn.
