The Little Princess
Hurray! I think there may be a glimmer of hope that my sweet girl will not be such a tomboy! Not that there is anything wrong with tomboy - if that is what she truly turns out to be. For most of her life, she has gravitated to general type of toys, or cars and outdoor types of fun. I have come to terms with that and it really hasn't bothered me all that much. She loves to wear dresses, most of the time, and she does have a few baby dolls that get attention every now and again. But today, today was a breakthrough day! She woke her daddy up and announced that she wanted to go to the Jump Zone (scene of 2 of her 3 birthday parties and loads of fun!!) this morning. He declared a Hannah and Daddy day and they both quickly ate breakfast and got ready to go. As he left to get the car packed and ready for their outing, Hannah wandered into her playroom and came out wearing a "dress-up" pink dress (think flapper style from the roaring 20's) along with a pink ballerina tutu - over her jump zone clothes. She twirled and swirled around the room and then declared that she was going to wear these to the Jump Zone. Of course, it thrilled me, and so I told her she could. She was so excited! Her daddy looked a little dismayed when he came to get her to place her in the car - but I assured him all was well. I really thought that as soon as they arrived at the Jump Zone, off would come the tutu and dress and she would be ready for jumping fun sans the princess garb. They were gone for quite awhile, upon their return, as we were getting her out of the car seat, I noticed, she was still in the "princess dress-up" outfit. I asked D if she had worn it all day - and YES, she did! They jumped, then went to an auto parts store, then to McD's for lunch, then to Lowes for more shopping. All the while, she was dressed as the princess ballerina - I am sure it was a hoot to see. Little girl, toddling behind Daddy, all over town, wearing such an outlandish outfit. I think D was a little bit embarrassed - especially at the auto parts store. Me, I am just thrilled to pieces. There may be a girly, girl in our future after all.
